Friends of the
Swansea Festival of Music and Arts

Originally formed in 1973 as Patrons' Association, the Friends continue to pursue the same aims and objectives of the founding constitution.

Arts LogoFirst and foremost we support the Swansea Festival financially by sponsoring events and by commissioning new works and contribute by an other means that benefit the Festival.

We also encourage music making in the city by awarding smaller grants to other local festivals or musical events, such as the Abertawe Festival of Young Musicians, the Gower Festival and the Crwth chamber events series. So far we have been able to distribute over £100,000.

We are engaged on a programme to sponsor young musicians to attend Festival events hoping to contribute to building up a future audience. From time to time we make grants to postgraduate music students to further their studies.

Public funding of the Arts is under severe financial pressure and constraints and commercial sponsorship is more and more difficult to generate. We are determined to do all we can to help maintain the long and distinguished tradition of the Swansea Festival and support music making in the city in general.

As a member of the friends you will receive the Festival Diary of Events and advance booking rights before the general public. You will receive a small discount on the Festival Programme. You will have the opportunity to meet visiting orchestras and soloists socially after the events. These receptions are also important meeting points for all friends. Regular newsletters will keep you informed of the Friends' activities and musical events in the City.

You can join the friends today, at any time of the festival or at any time of the year. We are looking forward to welcoming you. For information on membership please contact:
