FREE Lunchtime Talk: Kevin Allen
FREE Lunchtime Talk: Swansea International Festival 2017
Thursday 12 October, 1.00pm
Round Reading Room ALEX Design Exchange, Swansea College of Art, Alexandra Road, SA1 5DX
Kevin Allen is one of the most brilliant, iconoclastic artist-filmmakers working in Britain today. Twin Town, his seminal film set in Swansea, combined sardonic wit with poignant charm, and remains the best-known portrait of Swansea for most of those who have never visited the city. Having recently adapted Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood for the big screen, he is currently in pre-production for a Llanelli based a follow up to Twin Town, and has been closely involved with Swansea’s bid to become the UK’s City of Culture in 2021. Kevin is therefore perfectly placed to speculate on how best to present Swansea to the world – something he’ll be doing in today’s free lunchtime talk, held as part of this year’s Swansea International Festival.
