Galerie Simpson: Catrin Saran James
September – October, 11:30am – 5:00pm
Galerie Simpson, High Street
Local artist, archivist, and renaissance woman Catrin Saran James curates an exhibition featuring a group of artists from across south Wales, all of whom offer their responses to the recent fascination with ‘Austerity Nostalgia’. Taking their cue from the writings of social critics such as Owen Hatherley, the exhibition explores the visual appeal and romanticisation of the not-so-pretty recent past, reflecting on the extent
to which analysis and appropriation of our recent past points the way towards our aesthetic and cultural future.
Featuring work by Jon Pountney, Mark James, Daniel Edwards, Paul Giuffrida, Anna Barratt, Karl Morgan and Catrin Saran James.
